摘要:This paper deals with the Basic communication model and the types of fibers for the optical fibercommunication system. Some basic concepts have been clarified that will determine the efficiency of the system. Inorder to evaluate the performance of the digital fiber optic communication system, a number of parameters have beenstudied by employing two wavelengths (1310,1550) nm: the resulting attenuation from increase the length of fiber forsingle mode (SM) and multimode (MM) fibers, the bending losses, splices losses and the analysis of Q-factor andbit error rate (BER). Finally, a comparison has been made between three types of transmission channels: copper wires,radio frequency (RF) and optical fibers. Optical fiber was the faster channel to transfer the information.
