  • 摘要:2-(3-methoxy-4-hydroxyphenyl) - 2-phenyl-2, 3 –dihydro-1H-1, 5-benzodiazepine (MEPBD) wassynthesized by the condensation of o-phenylenediamine and ketone catalyzed by sulphated zirconia and characterizedby FTIR spectra. Corrosion inhibition property of the benzodiazepine for mild steel in sulphuric acid medium wasevaluated by weight loss, electrochemical methods and by Scanning electron microscopic studies (SEM). The resultsshowed that the compound is an efficient inhibitor and the efficiency depends on concentration and temperature. Theadsorption of the inhibitors is found to obey Langmuir adsorption isotherm Thermodynamic parameters such as ΔG, Ea,ΔH, ΔS for the corrosion inhibition process have been deduced and discussed.
