摘要：Previous studies about citizens’ perception of pig husbandry mainlyfocus specific housing parameters. Literature dealing with health andwelfare as a result of husbandry is rare. Hence, six focus groups with49 German citizens in total were conducted. Content analysis was usedto evaluate discussants views of pig health, behaviour and medication.The effect of their perception on their pork consumption wasquestioned too. It became clear that a widespread use of medications isvery present in discussants’ perception and concerns about residues inpork were raised. Additionally, it was mentioned that the intensiverearing requires a prophylactic treatment with medications.Consequently, some discussants consume less or no more pork orresort to meat alternatives.
