  • 摘要:In this article we analyze how much oral tradition contributes to the maintenance of ancestral practices. We begin this study by referencing medieval witches, reflected in the current healers whose art of healing through words and their own modus faciendi have been perpetuating a social practice that reminds us humankind in its beginning. In order to support our considerations, we base our study on researchers of the field such as Conceição (2008), Rosário et al. (2014), Theotonio (2011) and Silva (2009) and we illustrate this exploratory research by presenting a healer of Tianguá City, who we interviewed once and observed her healing practice three times. We conclude that oral tradition is a valuable factor in preserving memory when we are dealing with healing activities and also that it is necessary to preserve healing tradition which is being gradually lost, underestimated in postmodern urbanity, invisible to the media and belittled by literature, that excludes her.
