摘要:The new semi-annual Financial System Survey (FSS) collects expertopinions on the risks to and resilience of the Canadian financial system aswell as emerging trends in financial products and practices. The survey improves the breadth of the Bank’s surveillance across thefinancial system, collects information on topics where the Bank has limiteddata or expertise, and creates a venue for two-way dialogue withfinancial system participants and industry experts. The FSS will be a useful benchmark to compare Bank views and analyticalwork with outside opinions and will help Bank staff identify newtopics for research and analysis. Selected highlights from the survey willbe presented in the Bank of Canada’s Financial System Review and onthe Bank’s website. In the spring 2018 FSS, cyber attacks, rising geopolitical tensions and adrop in real estate prices were most frequently cited by respondents asrisks that could have a significant negative impact on the Canadian financialsystem. The majority of respondents view the probability of a highimpactfinancial system event in the next year to be low, but they also seethat probability increasing over the medium term. More than 90 per centof respondents expressed confidence in the resilience of the Canadianfinancial system if a large shock were to materialize.
