摘要：The generation of solid waste and its consequent accumulation in dumps, landfills and other areas of the city, has been one of the major problems of today's society. Evaluate how people perceive the issue of waste is essential for the development of actions to minimize it. In this sense, the research aimed to analyze the environmental awareness of the residents in relation to solid waste. With the study area Jorge Teixeira neighborhood, an area of great socio-environmental vulnerability of the city of Manaus, left is a qualitative and quantitative approach, with the data collection instruments: questionnaires, field diaries, photo and recorder. It was found that the level of environmental awareness in relation to solid waste is still quite limited, given the socioeconomic characteristics of residents. It is proposed as measures to improve the perception that they have of the environment in which they live, environmental education and community projects that enhance the residue, such as the formation and implementation of cooperatives.
