摘要：Garbage collectors are invisible agents in brazilian scenario. The Works of these “environmental agents” contribute to reducing the amount of material discarded in landfills and/or waste landfills, enabling its recycling and reuse for production of various materials. In his activity of collection, the garbage collectors are exposed to various hazards and risks such as cuts, burns and contamination by harmful materials. Identify the environmental conditions can contribute to improvements in public policies. This paper presents the environmental diagnosis of Cooperative Collectors Mofarrej in Sao Paulo, in partnership with Centro Universitário Senac and the Associação Brasileira de Engenharia Sanitária e Ambiental (ABES), built after site visits, observing the work process; questionnaires to cooperative members and residents; survey and data analysis, culminating in the evaluation of the conditions of life and work of the cooperative members. It was found that the operation of these professionals requires support, regulations and information about the risks inherent in the activity.
