摘要:Adventure Races are an endurance multisport composed of several physical activities. Races may endure hours or days, featuring outdoor expeditions. Natural protected areas opened to the general public, such as National or State Parks, are often settings for Adventure Races. The increasing flow of visitors (athletes and spectators) to natural protected areas and the stress they may impose on ecosystems raise concerns about how to organize Adventure Races so that the events may attend both the public demand in use and the objectives of conservation in natural protected areas. In this review article references of Adventure Races being organized in Brazil with planning strategies, such as rules and penalties against social and environmental damage, were researched. It was found that ever since the introduction of the sport in the country efforts to organize what could be understood as more sustainable events were made. However it is not always clear how monitoring of these events is done so that the rules and penalties against social and environmental damage may apply, which points out to better care and concern while planning and organizing Adventure Races.
