摘要：Points of Interest (POI) are used for a variety of analysis tasks in planning, navigation,transportation, tourism, and other areas. For these tasks an understanding of the quality ofPOI data from different sources is essential. This paper reviews the temporal developmentand relative completeness of POI from proprietary (TomTom, NAVTEQ, ESRI) and freegovernmental (TIGER/Line) data sources, as well as that of Volunteered GeographicInformation (OpenStreetMap). It highlights the pros and cons for each of these data sets interms of completeness and currentness. It further analyzes for a subset of features how activethe OSM community is in editing and updating previously imported POI from alternativedata sources.
