摘要:It is recommended that infants born to women withhepatitis B infection should have serological reviewfollowing completion of a four dose vaccinationschedule. A review was undertaken on 102 neonateswho received hepatitis B immunoglobulin toascertain the proportion that were fully immunisedand then followed up. Of the 66 infants for whomdata were available, 65 (98.5%) had appropriatelyreceived four doses of hepatitis B vaccine in infancyand a further child had received three doses. Only19/66 (29%; 95%CI: 18-41%) infants had documentedfollow-up serology results, one of whomwas infected and one of whom was immune throughclearance of infection. All children who had no serologydocumented were traced and offered testing inprimary care. Our results demonstrate that althoughadherence to the vaccination schedule in this groupof infants was good, mechanisms for ensuring thatinfants receive serology testing need to be strengthened.
