摘要：In this paper, various types of nominalizations are examined in English to Russian translation. A predicative verb at the beginning of a simple English sentence can be replaced by a deverbal noun in translation in order to shift the focus of attention to an adverbial modifier. In a semantically complicated sentence, the nominalization of an adverbial phrase increases its status in the communicative structure of a particular sentence and the entire text. The study showed that the nominalization in English to Russian translation is an effective strategy for preserving the coherence of the text.
