摘要:Consumption-oriented models of governancedominate the contemporary global legal architecture. The financial crisis beginning in 2008, however, posesfundamental questions about the future viability ofthese approaches to economics and law. This paperattempts to first, evaluate consumption’s salienthistorical development and themes from the post-World War II era to more recent legislativeinnovation, and second, introduce seven heterodoxvignettes that challenge the hegemony of consumptionin legislative policy. The paper concludes with somebrief reflections upon potential opportunities andlimitations of these heterodox traditions within futurescholarship and policy addressing the interplay of lawand consumption in global governance.
