摘要:Undergrad students are trained on a specific set of skillsmatching their corresponding careers, as modern sciencestrend to specialization; however, it has promoted the creationof a virtual boundary among different professions. In thisregard, state-of-the-art dental research involves theapplication of ever-increasing complex computationalsolutions; thus, requiring of multidisciplinary research teams.Multidisciplinarity is often achieved on a higher researchcontext (e.g., postgrad); but involves a high degree ofdifficulty for both factions. The aim of this work is to presenta novel application of multidisciplinary research to thelearning process of undergrad students in computer sciencesand dentistry careers. In order to do so, we leveraged previousresearch on computational intelligence and image processingtechniques applied to dental diagnosis, and integrated it withthe clinical assessment and software engineering subjects ondental and computer engineering careers correspondently. With this, we explored the possibility to enhance diagnosisskills of dental students, while improving the softwareengineering skills of computer sciences students;furthermore, we intended to introduce the concepts of appliedcomputational intelligence, multidisciplinarity, andcollaboration on both sides.
