  • 摘要:Purpose: Studying and analyzing the undergraduate engineeringstudents’ leadership skills to discover their potential leadershipstrengths and weaknesses. This study will unveil potential waysto enhance the ways we teach engineering leadership. Theresearch has great insights that might assist engineering programsto improve curricula for the purpose of better engineeringpreparation to meet industry’s demands.Methodology & Findings: 441 undergraduate engineeringstudents have been surveyed in two undergraduate engineeringprograms to discover their leadership skills. The results in bothprograms were revealing that undergraduate engineering studentsare lacking behind in the visionary leadership skills compared todirecting, including and cultivating leadership styles.Recommendation: A practical framework has been proposed toenhance the lacking leadership skills by utilizing the Matrix ofChange (MOC), and the Balanced Scorecard BSC) to capture thebest leadership scenarios to design virtual simulationenvironment as per the lacking leadership skills which is thevisionary leadership skills in this case. After that, the virtualsimulation will be used to provide an experiential learning byreplacing human beings with avatars that can be managed ordramatized by real people to enable the creation of live, practical,measurable, and customizable leadership development programs.
