摘要：The article addresses the issue of energy security in terms of energy intensity. Development of the economy is closely related to the availability of energy resources, ensuring energy security and energy efficiency, so that the energy sector is an important element of the economic and social activity. The evolution of the energy consumption is closely correlated with economic growth and energy intensity represents qualitative and quantitative expression of the efficiency of using energy resources. For the Republic of Moldova it is particularly important to act for increasing energy efficiency since it improves country’s competitiveness and reduce external energy dependence in the context of rising prices and the difficult geopolitical environment.
