摘要:Earlier work has shown that it is possible to determine the calendar age of Culex and Aedes mosquitos by counting the daily layers of cuticular growth on the inner apodemes. In view of the epidemiological importance of age grouping in Anopheles species, the applicability of the method to this genus was studied in both laboratory-reared and field-collected specimens. In the four species examined, it was found possible to distinguish daily growth layers for periods of up to 10-13 days provided that proper staining procedures are used.
