  • 摘要:This paper analyzes the relationship between school achievement, gender and sociometric status of students in higher grades of elementary school. The study included 427 students - 210 girls (49.2%) and 217 boys (50.8%). According to the results of the analysis, gender and sociometric status affect the general school performance significantly and independently, since the interaction is not statistically imporatnt. The female students had significantly better academic achievement than the male ones. These results confirmed a compelling association of academic achievement and social competence of adolescents. Popular adolescents generally achieve the best academic results, followed by the controversial and isolated ones, while the poorest educational results are achieved by the rejected adolescents. Concerning the gender, the results of the analysis also show that the worst school performance is achieved by the rejected male students. These create the riskiest part of the student population, both in terms of academic achievement and in terms of the social competence development.
