其他摘要:The study was carried out on truncated part of Dhaleswari(Tlawng called in Mizoram) river of district Hailakandi of Assam state.It was truncated around the village Ramnathpur of district Hailakandi. The original course of the river is diverted and the main stream and joined a canal called Katakhal. However, the shallow original course of Dhaleswari joins Barak little downstream near Panchgram at Hailakandi District further traveling a distance of 101.5 Km. The physico-chemical parameters and zooplankton diversity of the truncated part of Dhaleswari was sampled from April 2016 to March 2017. River water samples were collected for physico-chemical parameters. Values of the physico-chemical parameters observed ranged as follows: water temperature 18-31°C; air temperature, 19-32°C; pH,6.2-6.9; dissolved oxygen ranges from 4.2-5.5mg/l, alkalinity 45-60 mg/l and FCO2 ranges from 0.9 to 1.5 mg/l. The zooplankton were collected, counted and were identified by using the standard literature. The present study will provide an important basis to assess the fish production potentialities and to formulate sustainable aquaculture practices in man-made habitats and fishery management policies in the truncated part of the river.KEY WORDS: Truncated, Canal, Zooplankton, Physico-Chemical Parameters.
