Ahfad University for women (AUW) has concluded its celebrations of the centennial of girl's education in Sudan by a National Conference on Education for All Living together: challenges and opportunities between the 4th and 6th of December, 2007.

Ahfad University for women (AUW) has concluded its celebrations of the centennial of girl's education in Sudan by a National Conference on Education for All Living together: challenges and opportunities between the 4th and 6th of December, 2007. The conference was carried out in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Education, civil society organizations, UNICEF, British Government--Department for International Development, United Nation organizations, international organizations in Sudan, political parties and bodies, private sector, European Union, Artists, journalists and media.

The AUW held an exhibition on universal education in conjunction with the Education for All conference. The exhibition included participation from different organizations and partners including UNV Program, Sudan University, Plan Sudan, National Archives, 30 artists and writers, Babiker Badri Scientific Association for Women Studies, CAFA and other NGOs.

The AUW in collaboration with the University of Bahr el Ghazal in South Sudan and Oslo University in Norway has been awarded support by the Norwegian Programme for Development, Research and Education, through its special program for Sudan (NUCCOP). The five years (2008-2012) program focuses on the development of Mental Health in South Sudan.

Also under the same program, AUW has partnered with the Upper Nile University and Oslo university in a program focusing on Education and Sustainable Development in a Post-Conflict Southern Sudan.

AUW in collaboration with the Center for Global Strategies, University of South Carolina in USA, and Bridges Organization Sudan held a two days seminar in December, 2007 under the title of "Sudan in Global Economy". The School of Management Studies at AUW has organized the seminar which included papers on "Macro-economic conditions for Global Competitiveness" and "Micro-economic Conditions For Global Competitiveness". The visit was concluded by a signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the two Universities.

The AUW Biomedical Research Laboratory (ABRL), as the WHO and Federal Ministry of Health focal institution, has produced two batches of Direct Agglutination Test (DAT) Antigen used for diagnosis of Kala-azar in Sudan. The ABRL is currently conducting studies for the scaling up of Direct Agglutination Test production and distribution in Sudan.
