Yedinci yayin yilma giren ve 19. sayisina ulasan Civilacademy Sosyal Bilimler Dergisi'nin Bahar 2009 sayisini sizlere sunmaktan buyuk bir kivanc duyuyorum. Bu sayida sosyoloji, dil, felsefe, uluslararasi iliskiler ve psikoloji alanlarindan makaleler sizlerle bulusuyor. Kolelik, egitim, din, yoksulluk, dil edinimi bu sayidaki ana konulardan sadece birkaci. Cok okuyan, cok arastiran, cok dusunen ve cok soran bir bilincin urunu bu makaleler akademik literaturdeki yerlerini alirken yazilmayi bekleyenler icin de akademik dunyaya cok yonlu pencereler aciyorlar.

Bu sayinin acilis yazisini Eyyup Esen'in"Ispanyol Floridasi ve New Orle-ans'taki Siyahlarin Egitim ve Kolelik Durumlari" olarak belirledik. 1565-1865 yillari arasindaki Ispanyol Floridasi ve New Orle-ans'taki Afrika kokenli Amerikalilarin egitim ve kolelik durumlari karsilastirilmali olarak incelendigi ve her iki durumda kilisenin egitim uzerine katkisinin olup olmadiginin arastirildigi makale bulgulari acisindan oldukca aydinlatici.

Osman Konuk ve Ahmet Kemal Bay-ram'in birlikte kaleme aldiklari "Insansizlastirilmis Yoksulluk: Yoksulluk, Bilim ve Etik" baslikli makalede yoksulluk sorunsalina ve bu sorunsalin algilanmasina ve cozumune iliskin yeni yaklasimlari bulabilirsiniz.

Ayhan Kahraman'in "Turk Muhendislik Ogrencilerinin Dil Ogrenme Inanclari Uzerine Bir Calisma" isimli yazisi Turk muhendis ogrencilerinin yabanci dil edinimi sureclerine dair bulgulara yer vermekte ve makaledeki anket arastirmalari bu konuda okurlara somut veriler sunarak ortaya koydugu tezle dikkat cekmektedir.

Aynur Yilmaz'in "Cocuk Istismari ve Ihmali: Risk Faktorleri ve Cocuklarin Psiko-Sosyal Gelisimi Uzerindeki Etkileri" baslikli makalesi cocuk istismari konusunda analizleriyle literature onemli katkilar saglamaktadir.

Gulay Dirik ve Esma Gunay "Dindarlik, Kontrol Odagi ve Psikolojik Sikintilar" isimli calismalarinda din konusunu psikolojik acidan ele alirken, Mehmet Gunenc yine din konusunu "Kant'ta Tanri Ispatlari ve Tanri Postulasi" baslikli makalesiyle Kant'in felsefi acisi uzerinden irdeleyip yeni bulgularla okuyucuya hitap ediyor.

Bu sayinin son yazisinda Erdoan Shipoli "Ekonomik Butunlesme icin Yeni Bir Guc Olarak Euro? Ya da Belki Siyasi Bir Butunlesme?" baslikli makalesiyle ortak para birimi olarak Euro'yu hem Avrupa Birligi ekseninde hem de birlik disinda irdeleyerek 2009 Bahar sayisina ayri bir renk katiyor.

Bahar 2009 sayisinin dusunsel calismalara katki saglamasi dilegiyle.

With the Spring 2009 issue Civilaca-demy Journal of Social Sciences celebrates its 7th year and 19th issue in the academic world. In this issue we are introducing you with the articles from the branches of sociology, language, philosophy, international relations and psychology. Subjects like slavery, education, religion, poverty, language acquisition are on the agenda of this issue. While these articles, which are the product of an intellectual consciousness, take their place in academy; they also open versatile windows to the academic world for the future articles that are waiting to be written.

The first article of this issue is Eyyup Esen's "Slavery and the Education of Blacks in Spanish Florida and New Orleans". In this article, Esen examines the issues of slavery and the education of Blacks in Spanish Florida and New Orleans between the years 1565 and 1865. This comparative study of Esen enables the reader to have new facts and outstanding indications about the issue of slavery and education.

Osman Konuk and Ahmet Kemal Bayram's article "Dehumanized Poverty: Poverty, Science and Ethics" brings a new perspective to the subject of poverty by claiming that a new ethical approach is needed for the solution of poverty problem.

The article "A Study on Turkish Engineering Students' Beliefs about Language Learning" which is written by Ayhan Kahraman brings the issue of language learning among Turkish engineering students into agenda. His article attracts attention with its thesis and statistical indications.

Aynur Yilmaz's article "Child Abuse and Neglect: Risk Factors and Effects of Child Abuse on Child Psycho-Social Development" has invaluable contributions to academic world with its subject matter and analysis.

While the article "Religiousness, Locus of Control, and Psychological Distress" which is a common work of Gulay Dirik and Esma Gunay, deals with the issue of religion from a psychological perspective. Mehmet Gunenc's article "Proofs of God's Existence according to Kant and God as a Postulation" deals with the issue same issue from philosophic perspective by focusing on Kant.

We are ending this issue with the article of Erdoan Shipoli, named "Euro as a New Force for Economic Integration? And, Perhaps, Political Integration? In this article Shipoli deals with the issue of Euro as a common currency not only in European Union context but also outside the EU context, and takes it special place in this issue.

It is my sincere wish that the Spring 2009 issue of Civilacademy Journal of Social Sciences would ask so many questions and open the way for the upcoming answers.
