摘要：This article proposes a model based on Durkheim’s suicide framework asa tool for enhancing gerontological practitioner’s ability to detect andprevent suicide among elders. Although many suicide detection toolsare based on psychological factors, this model focuses on identifyingenvironmental stressors that may increase psychological stressors. Toillustrate our concepts, we use case files from one author’s experience asa practicing social worker in nursing homes. We offer this model notas a replacement for psychological detection tools, but as an additionaltool for practitioners who work to identify and prevent suicides amongthe elderly.
