摘要：land Administration System (LAS) in the Chittagong HillDistricts (CHDs) in Bangladesh is relatively complicated anddifferent from that of the plain-land districts. In the case oftransferring ownership of land in plain-land districts is connected totwo offices, but the same work in the CHDs is related to five offices.Even though traditional owners of land in the CHDs were theindigenous people, they have had serious lack of documentation oftheir land. Any person could acquire and cultivate fresh land only bypaying tax to the circle chief. Later, with the arrival of the Bengalisettlers in the region, managing land records became morecontroversial. This phenomenon generated numerous land disputes inCHDs with the passing of time. The purpose of this study is to look forthe factors that are affecting the efficiency of Land ManagementSystem in CHDs. The study has been basically followed by qualitativeanalysis supported by some quantitative data.
