摘要:A child at the moment of birth has certain inbornpatterns allowing it to spontaneously respond to thesurrounding world and yet unknown sensations -called reflex. The most significant for speechdevelopment are reflexes of the orofacial area. Thewell-functioning reflexes allow the child to eatproperly. The movements involved in alimentaryaction are reflected in the articulation of the sounds. The absence of orofacial area reflexes or theirimpaired integration inhibits the child’s normalspeech development. It impairs motor efficiency ofthe articulation organs, and consequently leads toincorrect articualtion of sounds. The aim of thispaper is to present the impact of orofacial reflexeson the development of alimentary functions and thedevelopment of the child's speech. The knowledgeof the aforementioned subject plays a significantrole in logopaedic prevention / early logopaedicintervention.
