摘要:Aging is accompanied by many physical, biological, psychoaffective and cognitive changes. Cerebral aging is a complex and heterogeneous process. Magnetic resonance imaging can be used to identify and quantify, at least part of, these cerebral alterations in vivo . Diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) measures the alterations of the integrity of white matter fibers through changes in the diffusion of water molecules in the brain. The main objective of this review is to introduce the principles of DTI and to review studies describing the age-related alterations in brain white matter and their impact on cognitive functions including executive functions and memory. A particular emphasis will be laid on prospective memory, defined as memory of future intentions.
