摘要：Este artigo centra-se na análise da tradução do humor de um capítulo da série brasileira “A Diarista”, produzida pela Rede Globo de televisão, e propõe refletir sobre o processo tradutório enquanto reconstrução na tradução para legendas, trabalhando no par de línguas português-inglês. Ao considerar os desafios que envolvem este trabalho – por exemplo, a tradução de linguagem oral em texto escrito, restrições pré-estabelecidas de caracteres e tempo de exibição das legendas, multitarefas para o telespectador – e o trabalho criativo que envolve a tradução do humor, este ensaio examinará e discutirá as influências destes fatores no produto final de uma tradução para legendas que envolve conteúdo humorístico. Para tanto, foram selecionados excertos do episódio que constituem desafios para o sujeito tradutor que precisa, quase sempre, domesticar o texto traduzido (Venuti, 2002), inserindo-o em um curto espaço de exibição e tendo que dominar softwares específicos de tradução. A tradução para legendas do capítulo da série “A Diarista” foi realizada pelas autoras do texto durante a disciplina de Estágio Curricular Supervisionado I do curso de Bacharelado em Tradução da Universidade Estadual de Maringá (UEM). Este trabalho fundamenta-se, principalmente em Rosas (2002), Arrojo (2003) e Venuti (2002) e considera que a tradução de séries humorísticas para legendas sempre envolverá assimilação doméstica do texto estrangeiro e um trabalho de recriação por parte do tradutor.
其他摘要：This article aims to analyze the translation of humor in an episode of the Brazilian sitcom A Diarista , produced by Rede Globo , and proposes to reflect on the translation process as a reconstruction in subtitle translation, from Portuguese into English. Concerning the challenges involved in subtitle translation – such the translation of oral language into written text, the pre-established restrictions on characters and out times of the subtitles, viewers’ multitasking - and the creative work involved in the translation of humor, this essay will examine and discuss the influences of these factors on the final product of subtitle translation that involves humorous content. For this purpose, excerpts from the episode were selected which constitute a challenge for the translator subject who must, almost always, domesticate the translated text (Venuti, 2002), inserting it into a short display space as well as having to master specific translation software. The translation of the episode of the sitcom “A Diarista” was carried out by the authors of this text during the Supervised Curricular Internship I course of the Bachelor’s degree in Translation of the Universidade Estadual de Maringá (UEM) . This work is mainly based on Rosas (2002), Arrojo (2003) and Venuti (2002) and considers that subtitle translation of humorous series will always involve the domestic assimilation of the foreign text and a re-creation by the translator.
