There Also have been described the trends of development of business environment in the field of high technology in Ukraine and abroad, particularly in universities, as well as patterns of commercialization of results research activities in the context of strengthening the importance of knowledge. Nowadays there are several theories which are connected with the definition of the term “academic capitalism”. However one of them has been paid the most attention to among the researchers. It is the one that touches the process of transforming universities or research institutes from non-profit socially-oriented organizations into commercial enterprises. In fact this should be obligatory attended by measures of direct market activities in order to obtain profits (patents, licenses, etc.). It can also cause increased competition for the opportunities of getting the investment funds and different commercial contracts able to provide profits in the long run. In such conditions the role of researchers changes substantially. They turn into scientific managers. It is established that the main regularities of commercialization of developments and inventions of Ukrainian scientists are based on the principles and conditions of materialization of scientific ideas, as well as the forms of their transfer and the degree of their final profitability. A comparative survey of the most common institutional forms of technology transfer in Ukraine and abroad is carried out. It is proved that the chronic underfunding of the research area, imperfection and inconsistency of the regulatory framework with international standards, as well as geopolitical challenges and financial and economic instability hamper the development of innovation and technology in domestic research universities and research institutions. The domestic and European legislation is analyzed in the field of technological transfer on a commercial basis. It is shown that the measure of the efficiency of commercialization of scientific and technical production is the number of patents, and the factors that influence the success of the implementation of profitable innovations. Conclusions and directions of further researches.
