Makalah ini bertujuan untuk melihat ide-ide Huntington dari perspektif yang berbeda yaitu postmodernisme. Penulis berasumsi bahwa tesis Huntington lebih mudah dipahami jika diletakkan pada wacana postmodernisme. Karakteristik postmodernisme yang menonjol adalah desentralisasi, dekonstruksi, de-konsensus, dan modernisme "mengutuk" yang dihargai anti humanisme dan militerisme. Di era postmodemisme, makna teks tidak pada teks itu sendiri, tetapi pada hubungan yang mempererat teks dan pembaca. Di era ini, ada pernyataan tentang kematian sang penulis (Barthes).
