摘要：One of the most important attributes of the medieval Queenship was the Queen representation as pious woman, interested in the promotion of the Church and its centers. Precisely, the demonstration of the piety of the Queen of Castile motivated the boost of the ecclesiastical institutions of the kingdom. We can observe the causes that provoked the Queen’s patronage, where it is needed to understand the political implications of her decisions. This article will study the patronage of Queen Maria of Aragon, first wife of King Juan II of Castile, and it will analyze religious importance and political meaning of her decisions in this field.
