摘要：The article presents an analysis about the episcopal ministry of Francisco Saenz de Urturi y Crespo in the city of Santiago de Cuba between July 1898 and April 1899, through the processing of unpublished documentary sources. The main intention of the text is to unravel the complexities that characterized his government management in a context marked by the end of the independence war and the constant confrontations, not only in the order of politics and religion, but also in the cultural universe and symbolic that accompanied the changes.
