摘要:The historical links between Brazil and Portugal have helped to draw a migratory route between the two countries with different directions throughout history. The Brazilian interest in the European country began in the late 1980s with a limited countercurrent movement that gained a significant flow in the following decade and the beginning of the 21st century. In the last decade, more specifically after the Brazilian political-economic crisis triggered by the impeachment of the former president of Brazil, Dilma Rousseff, in 2016, a new flow of Brazilians to Portugal has been observed. It is in the sense to understand how the news about this new migratory phase have been constructed that this article is presented. There were analysed 13 articles published on websites of recognised newspapers in both countries, Diário de Notícias (Portugal) and Folha de São Paulo (Brazil), in the year 2017, selected by search engines. The theoretical-methodological basis is situated in the context of the Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA), formulated by Teun Adrianus van Dijk. The literature review focuses on the evolution of migration theories, as well as the changes in the flows and representation of the media about of Brazilian immigration in Portugal, in order to contextualise the concepts that form the basis of this study.
