摘要:The increase in the consumption of soft drinks has been associated with the development of metabolic diseases such as metabolic syndrome, type 2 diabetes, obesity among others. This study aimed to determine the effect of the consumption of soft drinks on the weight and glucose of male Wistar rats. This experimental study included two groups (n = 8 rats), the control group received a 12 ml of water per 100g of weight daily, and, the experimental group received 12 ml of soft drink per 100 grams of weight each per day, for 24 weeks and the variables weight and glucose of each group were measured. The animals with soft drink consumption showed an increase in body weight and hyperglycemia at week 8, 12, 16, 20 and 24. In conclusion, the consumption of soft drinks compared with water was associated with an increase in weight and blood glucose.
