摘要:The soprano María Barrientos (*1884; †1946) was one of the Spanish artists with major international projection during the first third of the 20th Century. In spite of the fact that she was dedicated to the song of concert at the end of his life, María Barrientos was linked to the opera up to the decade of 1920, belonging to the most relevant companies of the epoch and singing in the principal theatres. In the present work, we offer an approach to her début in the Metropolitan Opera House of Nueva York, happened in the year 1916. The selection of this event as object of studio owes to that it means the musical presentation of the Spanish prima donna in one of the most relevant operatic spaces and to the initial point of her North American career, characterized by the ovations of the public, the approval of the critique, and a place emphasized in the record industry, as the hemerographic sources consulted could demonstrate.
