摘要：Durante la década de los noventa, la economía mexicana experimentó diversos cambios en la aplicación de las políticas monetaria y cambiaria que culminaron con la implementación del esquema de metas de inflación en 2001. Si bien este régimen ha tenido éxito en la reducción de la tasa de inflación, también se ha observado un pobre desempeño económico. Este artículo de investigación busca examinar la relación entre inflación, incertidumbre inflacionaria y volatilidad cambiaria en un contexto de credibilidad, transparencia e independencia del Banco de México. Se utilizan modelos SARMA-GARCH, y su extensión E-GARCH-M, se presenta evidencia del cumplimiento de la hipótesis de estabilización de Holland y Friedman-Ball, lo que corrobora que el Banco de México ha procurado alcanzar su objetivo de inflación mediante una política de apreciación cambiaria y de disminución de su volatilidad.
其他摘要：During the 1990´s, the Mexican economy underwent several changes in monetary and exchange rate policies that ended up in the adoption of the inflation targeting scheme in 2001. Although this monetary regime has been successful in reducing the inflation rate, a poor economic performance has also been observed. This research examines how inflation, inflationary uncertainty and exchange rate volatility are related under a framework of credibility, transparency and independence of the Bank of México. The results of the SARMA-GARCH models and their E-GARCH-M extension show that the stabilization hypothesis of Holland and Friedman-Ball is fulfilled, which implies that the Bank of México has sought to achieve its inflation target through an appreciation of the exchange rate and a reduction of its volatility.
