摘要：O artigo intitulado Nas correntezas do amor: A Guerra do Paraguai (1864-1870) nas Cartas de Custódio de Melo a sua noiva prometida Janú apresentou correspondências decaráter particular que fornecem elementos para o estudo do conflito platino. O autor informa o evento guerra a partir de dois pontos de vista. O primeiro deles revela que os combatentes foram à guerra motivados por questões pessoais, ou seja, em busca de promoções militares e pagamento de soldos. O segundo ponto de vista associou o conflito ao cotidiano, apresentando os campos de batalha como espaços onde o sofrimento e a dor causados pela dificuldades impostas pelo conflito. Assim, refletimos sobre os limites do projeto político imperial quanto a elaboração de imagens e idéias de Brasil. As fontes indicaram que a iniciativa governamental esbarra nos interesses individuais, não assegurando o desejado amor à pátria.
其他摘要：The article entitled “In the currents of love: The Paraguayan War (1864-1870) in the Letters from Custódio de Melo to his promised bride, Janú”, presented elements of aprivate nature for the study of the plantation dispute. The author narrates the war event from two points of view. The first reveals that the combatants went to war motivated by personal issues, in other words, in search of military promotions and stipend payments. The second point of view, associated the conflict with the day-to-day aspect, presenting the battlefields as spaces where the suffering and pain is caused by the difficulties imposed by the conflict. As such, we reflect about the limits of the imperial political project with regard to the elaboration of images and ideas of Brazil. The sources indicate that the governmental initiative advances upon individual interests, by not assuring the desired homeland love.
