摘要：Edward Lorenz published research papers over a period of 58 years on a variety of subjects encompassed within dynamical meteorology. A commentary is presented here on four of his most important ideas: available potential energy in the atmospheric general circulation, chaotic dynamics, limits of weather predictability, and the hypothesized slow manifold of momentum‐balanced evolution free of fast oscillations.
