摘要:Brazilian public policies focused on energy security follow international initiatives, with emphasis on intersectoral and transversal actions. In the last decades, the country has been highlighting in the production of biofuels, among which we mention the derivatives of agricultural cultivars. In this context, the present study aims to analyze the insertion of agricultural cooperatives in the biodiesel production chain in Rio Grande do Sul. For this purpose, bibliographical research was done, as well as the analysis of secondary data on the subject. It was verified that the insertion of the cooperatives in the biodiesel production chain is encouraged by the PNPB and its respective strategies of insertion of the familiar agriculture to the energy market. Cooperatives act as intermediaries and facilitators of agricultural production, distribution and marketing. In this sense, it is affirmed that the cooperatives are important economic agents of foment to the regional development, as well as fundamental link for the growth of the productive chain of the biodiesel.
