摘要:The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of social appearance concerns in secondary and high school students on the development of a trait anxiety situation for physical education course. In this study relational research model was used. The study group consisted of 280 students that educated in different secondary school (Mage= 11.99, SD=1.06) and high school (Mage= 15.55, SD=.82) in Ankara, 161 (%57.5) of them were girls and 119 (%42.5) of them were boys. “Social Appearance Anxiety Scale-Adolescent” and “Physical Education Trait Anxiety Scale“ were used as data collection tools. In the study, descriptive statistics, correlation and regression analysis were used. It was observed that the students studying at both levels of education had a moderate level of anxiety both physical education course and their social appearance. In addition, as the social appearance anxiety of the students increased, the level of physical education trait anxiety increased. Social appearance anxiety in secondary school students has a medium effect size on trait anxiety towards physical education course; It was observed that social appearance anxiety explained 24% of total variance in trait anxiety levels in physical education course. In high school students, it is concluded that social appearance anxiety has a low effect size on trait anxiety towards physical education course.
