  • 摘要:The loss of physical and physiological functions that occur as a result of aging leads to a decrease in the quality of life. In the healthy aging process, although it is known that regular and moderate physical activity reduces the functional losses experienced with increasing age, there is speculation as to how effective the level of physical activity is in this process on quality of life. Therefore, the aim of this study was to investigate the effects of physical activity levels on the quality of life for elderly individuals. A total of 206 volunteers participated in the study, of whom 88 were female and aged 69.01±2.10 years, and 118 were male and aged 70.73±3.69 years. After determining the height, body weight, and body mass index values were measured, quality of life was determined using the SF-36quality of life scale and their physical activity levels were established using an accelerometer (StayHealty RT6, USA), which makes three axis measurements. In the female, there was a significant relationship between the physical functioning subscale of quality of life and both the accelerometer total calorie and accelerometer activity calorie values (p<0.001). There was also a significant relationship between the accelerometer activity calorie and social role functioning values (p<0.05). In the male, there was a significant relationship between both the accelerometer total calorie and accelerometer activity calorie values and physical role functioning (p<0.001), vitality (p<0.001), mental health (p<0.001), social role functioning (p<0.001), bodily pain (p<0.001) and general health perceptions (p<0.001) values. In addition, there was a significant relationship between accel-erometer activity calorie and emotional role functioning values (p<0.05). As a result, for elderly individuals it has been established that as physical activity values increase, the quality of life values also increases. It is also accepted that individuals should have high physical activity values by gaining awareness and a regular exercising routine during their youth and this should continue in order for them to have healthier and more productive advanced years. Key words: Elderly Individuals, Physical Activity, Quality of Life, Healthy Aging
