摘要:Culverts, which are common in linear works to reassemble the natural drainage network that such infrastructures intercept, should be able to drain catchment runoff and control local scour in heavy rainfall scenarios. Their hydraulic functioning and hence their erosive power come determined by the magnitude of the circulating flow rate, which depends on the characteristics of the surroundings, and the geometrical and constructive details of the own culvert. If local scour is not well controlled, it can even affect the security of the linear infrastructures where they are located. This work presents the calibration of a numerical model in FLOW-3D software, in such way that it simulates the most important results in terms of local scour on a down-scale model of a culvert. This study could serve as basis for the analysis of different situations and protective measures. Even though local scour is a highly non-linear and tridimensional problem, numerical results show a good degree of approximation to the measurements made in the physical model.
