摘要：これは，米国の多国籍企業であるキャタピラ社で発生した言語間題をどのように解決したか，その過程を詳しく調べ述べる。また，この解決の過程で作り上げられたキャタピラ基礎英語を紹介する。この言語は，英語を母国語としない人々とコミユニケーションを円滑に行うためにはどのようにしたらよいかということを考え，作られたものである。少ない語彙と単語は1つの意味しか持たないという原則のもとに明確な英語表現を確立したものである。日本の大手企業は，ちようど1971年のキャタピラ社と同じように海外へ機械やプラントを販売したり企業進出を行うという似た状況である。この言語間題を解決するためにはどのような研究を行わなければならないかについて述べる。
其他摘要：This paper describes the procedures to solve language problems occurred in Caterpillar Co. Ltd, a multi-national enterprise in U. S. A. It also introduces Caterpillar fundamental English which has been compiled in the process of solving the matters. Aiming at smooth communication with non-native speakers this English establishes the distinct English description under the principle that it has less vocabulary and every word has single meaning. At present Japanese major enterprises are in the similar situation to that of Caterpillar Co. Ltd in 1971 in a sense that they sell machines or prants to overseas and industrialize there. Under this situation it mentions it mentions what kind of studies are necessary in order to solve language problems.
