摘要：「JICST科学技術用語シソーラス」1981年版における，医学・農学・生物学分野の大幅な改訂について解説。今回の改訂では，従来の生化学・薬学・農芸化学分野を含むライフサイエンスに関する分野をすべてカバーできることを目的とした。主題力テゴリーが19から47に増加し，延べ語数ではディスクリプタが4，970から9，362へ，非ディスクリプタが1，395から1，836へ増加した。語の収集，整理について述べ，さらに主題力テゴリーごとにカテゴリーの範囲，1978年版シソーラスからの主な改訂点，語の階層（BT・NT）関連（RT）関係を解説した。さらに，若干の例を挙げて，インデキシング，検索の際の注意にも触れた。
其他摘要：This paper describes the substantial revision of terms in the fields of medicine, agriculture and biology of the JICST Thesaurus 1981 edition. This revision aims at covering all of the areas in life science including biochemistry, pharmacy and agricultural chemistry. Subject categories have increased to 47, but formerly the number was 19. The total number of descriptors, formerly 4970, is 9362, Nondescriptors have increased to 1836, but formerly 1395. The way of collecting and arranging terms, the scope of each subject category, major revising points derived from 1978 edition of the Thesaurus, and levels of terms (BT and NT) and relation of terms (RT) are explained. Also it mentions the matters to be attended to in indexing and retrieving along with some examples.
