  • 摘要:According to the decreasing demand of domestic bamboos caused by importing cheap bamboo shoots and the widespread use of plastic products caused to abandoned bamboo forests throughout in Japan. This problem leads to loss in biodiversity, water retention capacity, and natural disaster prevention functions. However, countermeasures have not progressed due to shortage of manpower and funds to manage the bamboo forests. Developing new manure to create economic value in thinned bamboos is one solution. In this research, the authors investigated impact of powder and charcoal manure made from thinned bamboos in Yokkaichi City on soil environment and growth of pot-cultured ‘Home Momotaro’ tomatoes. As a result, bamboo powder and charcoal increased the yield. In addition, bamboo charcoal increased available phosphate, and exchangeable magnesium, potassium and sodium. Therefore, the result suggests that powder and charcoal made from thinned bamboos has the possibility to be used as manure.
