摘要：El partido revolucionario cubano se alzó en Baire un febrero de 1895 contra el gobierno de España. Mientras tanto, España negocia la revocación del acuerdo con la Triple Alianza, a través de Italia. Esta negociación demuestra el interés decisivo del Mediterráneo para los gobiernos españoles. En definitiva, España no estaba aislada, su aportación era clave en el Mediterráneo y este «acuerdo europeo» daba garantías para conservar las colonias de las Antillas, si al guerra iniciada en Cuba se transformase en conflicto con los Estados Unidos.
