摘要：Spesso in quest’ultimo decennio l’attenzione dei media di massa verso le biotecnologie e la loro applicazione è risultata come permeata da forti distorsioni. Questa è l’ipotesi su cui si basa lo studio che qui si presenta. La ricerca, effettuata su di un campione di 473 studenti laureandi presso vari dipartimenti dell’Università di Catania, ha avuto ad oggetto le opinioni espresse da questi partecipanti sulla connessione tra biotecnologie e mass media. Dai risultati emerge una certa sfiducia verso le biotecnologie, soprattutto a causa di una chiara percezione di scarsa informazione fornita dai media. La studio mette in evidenza la scarsa informazione di temi, contenuti e metodiche che sono collegati con le innovazioni tecnologiche. Relativamente agli ambiti in cui emergono atteggiamenti di maggiore apertura, questi risultano essere i settori bio-medico ed agroalimentare. Giudizi negativi emergono invece per le dimensioni che riguardano il profitto economico come chiave di volta dell’intero sistema biotech. Often in the last decade the attention of the mass media to the biotechnology and their application as was permeated by strong distortions. This is the hypothesis on which the study presented here. The research, carried out on a sample of 473 undergraduate students from various departments of the University of Catania, was concerned with the opinions expressed by these participants on the connection between biotechnology and the media. The results show a certain distrust of biotechnology, mainly due to a clear perception of lack of information provided by the media. The study highlights the lack of information of themes, contents and methods that are related to the technological innovations. Those areas in which they emerge-minded attitudes, these appear to be the bio-medical and agri-food sectors. Not recommended instead emerge for dimensions that relate to the economic profit as the keystone of the whole system biotech.
