摘要:This essay aims to discuss characteristics of the contemporary agri-food system, as well as proposing reflections on the use of the biographical approach as a theoretical reference to analyse relationships between food and the environment. The research method used was a bibliographic review and consultation of secondary data. The results show that the globalization of the agri-food system contributes to the rupture between the production and consumption of food, which consequently influences the environment. However, alternative initiatives to the dominant model have the potential to (re)connect producers and consumers and to provide more accurate information about the various life stages offood products. Thus, this essay concludes that the use of the biographical approach with emphasis on the environmental aspect can contribute to (re)discover relationships between production, sustainability and food choices.
