摘要:From a comparative point of view, when we analyze Caribbean literature and its particular critique of imperialism, certain emblematic patterns of meaning emerge: recurrent figures which deconstruct the Western myth of Progress and denounce the tragic participation of the region –through capitalism and slavery– in the modern project. On this occasion I focus on those scenes of teaching/ learning which singularize the critique of colonial power in various Caribbean authors (Aimé Césaire, George Lamming, Kamau Brathwaite, Frankétienne) and texts (poetry, narrative, essay); as it will be shown, such scenes serve in an exemplary way to question cultural authority (and its false universalism) from subaltern positions.
