摘要:The proliferation of data breaches in recent years presents challenges for the information systems discipline. Public outcry over those breaches, at home and abroad, has drawn attention to the weakness of data privacy laws of the United States when compared to the laws of other nations. The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business stresses the importance of providing business students a world view. Additionally, curriculum guidelines created by information systems organizations place an increasing emphasis on globalization as a topic or learning objective. Students in information systems programs will benefit from an awareness of data privacy laws and resulting legal obligations, and it is thus imperative that educators in this field develop and deliver effective educational experiences that will meet this need. This paper presents a study in which both passive and active map-based learning experiences were presented in introductory information systems courses at the undergraduate level. The map-based learning experiences will be described, along with a discussion and analysis of the results of a survey administered at the end of the semester to measure student awareness of globalization.
