摘要:Even though family is acknowledged to be a key institution is Spain, with a deep influence in multiple facts of social life, few studies have analyzed its role on the individuals’ residential trajectories. Using data from a 2008 local survey conducted in the metropolitan area of Granada, this paper researches the importance of two factors- concentration of the family network, and presence of family roots- in spatial mobility and sedentarism. Our results underline how family networks are crucial to understand why people stay in our context. It is a strong reason to stay in the house and the neighborhood for everyone, but at the same time is modified by the social position of the individuals and the families, having a stronger effect on low income families and disadvantaged neighbourhoods.
