摘要:This study is a corpus-based investigation of the frequency, structure, and functions of lexical bundles found in research articles written in English by Turkish scholars. For the purpose of the study, one-million-word corpus of research articles published in six different academic disciplines was collected. The four-word lexical bundles in the corpus were identified and analyzed both structurally and functionally. The findings of the study suggested that the lexical bundles frequently used by Turkish authors in research articles had structural correlates and performed strong functions to construct the discourse of academic writing. Also, the study revealed bundles that had not been identified earlier in the literature. The conclusions drawn from this study could be applied to the teaching of academic genres and lexical bundles. The findings and discussion could provide insights for further corpus-based studies in academic writing.
