摘要：Purpose: This study explores the effects of intra-district shared competences and firms’ internal knowledge creation capacity on innovation performance. Methodology: A questionnaire survey was conducted on the firms located in West Mediterranean Technology Development Zone. Findings: The results of this study showed that intra-district shared competences have no significant effect on firm-specific knowledge based capacities. Consistent with the previous studies, the findings indicated that an increase in knowledge absorptive capacity of companies leads to better innovation performance. Furthermore, absorptive capacity of an organization needs to be supported by its internal knowledge creation capacity. Practical Implications: This paper provides perspectives on how information flows within the cluster affect internal knowledge creation and hence innovation performance of the firms located in a given industrial district and how these effects differ according to the firm-specific knowledge based capacities. Originality: This study extends to the literature on knowledge-based antecedents of innovation performance.
